Surgery Types
Cosmetic Surgery
The cosmetic surgery team offers surgical services for improvement in appearance of the entire body. All surgery is performed by board certified specialists in a fully certified surgicenter. All general anesthesia is provided by board-certified MD anesthesiologists, and IV sedation procedures are done by surgeons with additional anesthesia training as well as ACLS certification.
Face Lift
Face lift surgery is one of the most common cosmetic surgeries and is very effective in the rejuvenation of the entire face and neck. Although most face lift patients tend to be in their 50’s, some patients benefit from face and/or neck lift in their 40’s. The operation not only tightens the external skin but also tightens and resuspends the underlying fascia, creating a better foundation to support the skin and facial structures. The operation is done through incisions concealed in the normal creases in front of and behind the ears. Frequently, some liposuction accompanies the face lift to re-sculpt the underlying fat tissue, particularly in the “jowl” area along the jaw line, providing a more youthful contour to the face, cheeks, and neck.
Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Tightening)
Blepharoplasty refers to the cosmetic surgery to remove wrinkles and bags from the upper and lower eyelids. Upper lid blepharoplasty, when performed on older patients that have baggy lids overhanging the lid margin and obstructing vision can have part of their surgical costs actually covered by Medicare. For some patients, lower lid blepharoplasty can be done entirely through an incision hidden within the eyelid, with no sutures and no external scar. Blepharoplasty is often combined with local laser resurfacing of the eyelid to produce the most natural appearing result.
Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty of the “nose job” can be done for a variety of reasons. Some people want nasal reconstruction following accidents involving a nasal fracture and others are motivated primarily due to concerns over breathing restriction. Many others simply don’t like the size and shape of their nose and want alterations done.
Brow Lift
Brow lift surgery can restore the normal elevation of the eyebrows, improving the tired or angry appearance that comes with aging and sagging eyebrows. Brow lift can now be done endoscopically, minimizing the size of the incision and the position change of the hairline.
Body Liposuction / Liposculpture
Liposuction and total body contouring liposculpture can remove deposits of fat that are geneticall determined and that cannot be removed by normal weight control and exercise. Such deposits are frequently found in the “saddle bag” areas and tummy in women and the “love handle” areas in men. This surgery is done with the tumescent technique. whereby dilute local anesthetic solution is infused into the fat deposits and the liposuction then removes the fat with minimal blood loss and maximum safety. This is the only way that liposuction should be performed and it is the only way it is done at HNSA. Liposuction is done under general anesthesia.
